2016 Fundraising Gets of to a Flying Start

Leap29 played host to a number of activities throughout February to raise funds for Spinal Research – the UK's leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop reliable treatments for paralysis cause by a broken back or neck.

Led by James Barker, Consultant at Leap29 and his fellow team members they pledged to raise £1,000 for Spinal Research. A target that was comfortably beaten!

James was inspired to get involved with the Spinal Research charity from his previous experience with them. James comments, “When I was involved in a car crash several years ago on a rugby exchange programme in South Africa, Spinal Research were there to help. I was fortunate enough not to be in a wheelchair for the rest of my life; however, the 1,000 people who suffer from spinal injuries in the UK and Ireland each year are not so lucky.”

A variety of events took place including, Cracker Challenge, Thursday Curry Club, raffle and an auction with prizes donated from a number of local business as well as sporting memorabilia from Manchester United, Manchester City, England cricketer Andrew Flintoff, Sale Sharks and boxers ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan and Rocky Fielding.

Leap29 Marketing Manager, James O’Sullivan said, “The response from local business’ and from sporting stars around the region was fantastic and the prizes that have been donated for the fundraising efforts have significantly helped to beat the target of £1,000. James and the rest of his colleagues on his team have done a brilliant job in supporting Spinal Research and raising vital awareness of this charity.”
