SysOps Engineer

A Systems Operations engineer is required for a rapidly growing online web development company in Groningen. If you love to solve hard technical problems effectively, take ownership and want to work as part of an efficient team of professionals, this is the role for you.

What are you going to do?
You will join a hosting team with two DevOps, a SysOps and a manager. This team keeps their office and thousands of sites up and running. They do this with smart technology and tooling. They are the inventors of the client's infrastructure and work together with the product development team, so that the technology fits in well with their strategy.

Who are you?
• You have HBO working and thinking level
• You are well versed in Linux and understand networking
• You are proactive, ambitious, and driven to develop yourself
• You are interested in security and software development
• You feel responsible. If something is broken, do not step out the door thinking "tomorrow will come"
• You have knowledge of either Ceph ir Salt.

Dozens of programmer's works with this technique. You like to help people and make them happy. In case of malfunctions you have close contact with our support team, because together you ensure that we keep happy customers.

You think security is just as important as they are. The client wants to entrust confidential data to you. You also understand that the hosting team gets more rights than anyone else and you deal with that responsibly. The hosting team also plays a major role in maintaining their information security certification and you would like to contribute to that.

What are you not going to do?
Because a SysOps Engineer can have many tasks, it is useful to know what not to do with us:
• Brush mouse balls
• Install workplaces
• Customer contact (unless you like that)
• Remote desktops
• Hosting at customer location
• E-mail hosting for customers, SVN or FTP
• Manage Microsoft products

What are the career opportunities?
Part of the above tasks can be automated, and they are working on that. They prefer to be lazy than tired and like it when technology works automatically. They usually do that with Python. If you can (or learn) Python, you can strengthen the DevOps when creating this tooling.

Because they manage everything themselves, there is a lot of freedom to think about their systems. After all, they are not tied to suppliers or licenses. They can use the latest techniques. The hosting team regularly thinks about this and your input is welcome.

This is an exciting opportunity for a SysOps engineer to join a innovative company with huge career progression opportunities. If you are interested please do apply with your CV through the website.
