  • Working week runs from Sunday to Thursday. Friday is a weekly holiday for employees
  • Employment contracts must be written in Arabic alone.

In addition, all foreign employees looking to work in the UAE must obtain a valid pass or work visa before they begin work with the cost fronted by their employers. There are two types of work permits in the United Arab Emirates, skilled and unskilled, with extensive documentation required to apply. Add to this that, as per UAE law, employers must provide a ticket to the employee's native country when their visa is cancelled and if further employment is not found.
