According to the official 2026 payment calendar (issued by the Brazilian government), workers in Brazil who were born in November or December will become eligible to receive their Abono Salarial (PIS/Pasep) payment from 17th August 2026. This payment relates to the 2024 base year and is available to workers who meet the statutory eligibility requirements, which we will break down for you below.
What is the Abono Salarial?
The Abono Salarial is a Brazilian government benefit administered by the Ministry of Labour and Employment (Ministério do Trabalho e Emprego) and funded through the Worker Support Fund (Fundo de Amparo ao Trabalhador, FAT). It provides eligible workers with an annual payment of up to one minimum wage, depending on the number of months worked during the qualifying year.
Payment Opened on 17th August 2026
Under Brazil’s 2026 payment schedule, workers born in November and December are the final group to receive access to the benefit. Payments for this group became available from 17th August 2026, and funds can be claimed until 30th December 2026.
Who Can Receive the Abono Salarial Benefit?
To qualify for Brazil’s 2026 Abono Salarial payment, workers generally must have done all of the following:
- Been registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years
- Worked for a legal entity for a minimum of 30 days during 2024
- Received earnings within the prescribed income threshold
- Had their employment information correctly submitted by their employer through the eSocial system
How Much Will Eligible Workers Receive?
The amount paid depends on how many months the worker was employed during the 2024 base year. The maximum benefit in 2026 is R$1,621, equivalent to one Brazilian minimum wage. Workers who were employed for fewer than 12 months receive a proportional amount.
